Oakland Literacy Council Celebrates 35th Anniversary

Excerpt: About 100 students, tutors and community members joined in Oakland Literacy Council’s 35th Anniversary celebration at Waterford Oaks County Park.

Stories of challenges and accomplishments were shared throughout the afternoon. Student Lilian Faranso recalled how her tutor went through extra training to better help her. With her new language skills, Faranso can now understand her GPS and drive on her own.

“We are all learning a lot. Our lives are changed. I hope it will continue forever,” said Faranso.
