Food Trucks Are Rolling Into the Oakland County Farmers Market

Be sure to come hungry to the Oakland County Farmers Market on Saturday, May 4, to enjoy the first event in the 2019 Food Truck Rally series. From 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., visitors can indulge in savory BBQ, cool treats and freshly prepared culinary creations from popular local vendors.

“We have received amazing responses from the Food Truck Rally events we have held the past few years,” Market Manager Jeremy Brown said. ““Every day the market is open you can find unique items, great barbecue from the Red Wood Grill and a variety of fresh products, so when the food trucks are here they add to the fun.”

The Food Truck Rally series kicks off the spring and summer season at the market. From May through December, the Oakland County Farmers Market is open from 7 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Scheduled to attend the May 4 Food Truck Rally are Shredderz, Jamerican Grill and The Happy Patty. Market vendor Red Wood Grill will also be on hand to serve customers.

The market will be open for shopping during the Food Truck Rally. Spring is a great time of the year to visit with vendors sharing a variety of fresh local produce including asparagus, peas, greens and rhubarb. There is also a large selection of flowers, plants and garden-related items.

The Oakland County Farmers Market is a producer-direct market, hosting more than 100 farmers and artisans, representing 17 Michigan counties, year-round.

“We are looking forward to a fantastic season,” Brown said. “Food trucks offer mouth-watering lunch choices while market vendors provide a variety of fresh products that shoppers can use to create their own unique meals.”

In addition to the May 4 Food Truck Rally, other food truck events are planned for May 14, June 20, July 18, Aug. 15, Sept. 19 and Oct. 17.

Parking will be available at the market and at the Road Commission of Oakland County lot located west of the market.
