Troy-based Brightwing adds 75 jobs after rebranding

Corp! Magazine

recently named Brightwing as one of Michigan’s Economic Bright Spots, and it’s not hard to see it with the way the staffing company has grown over the last year.

The Troy-based company has hired 75 people, expanding its staff to 400 employees and a handful of interns. A significant portion of its recruitment over the last year, about a dozen people, has been young people.

“A lot of our success over the last year is how we handled the downturn between 2008-10,” says Aaron Chernow, CEO of Brightwing. “While other people cut staff, we focused on the people here and developed our people.”

The Corp! Magazine recognition goes toward companies that have experience a significant growth or expansion, are involved in emerging markets, or have made conscious efforts to remain in Michigan. This comes after the 38-year-old firm rebranded two years ago. It was formerly known as Resource.

Brightwing focuses on a number of areas in the staffing industry, including recruiting, training, development and creating workplaces that are both attractive and productive. It has done this primarily with Metro Detroit companies and other businesses looking to tap into the region’s talent pool.

“Our focus is to continue to find people in our local area and grow them,” Chernow says.
