Ciena Healthcare, a Southfield-based manager and operator of nursing and rehabilitation centers in Michigan, celebrated the grand opening of its newest center in Detroit. Regency at Chene, a 93,652-square-foot, 160-bed facility is located at 2295 E. Vernor Highway, near Gratiot Avenue. It is a nursing center with a licensed and certified team of professionals offering care.

Regency at Chene is the ninth Ciena Healthcare center in Detroit, 12th in Wayne County, and 40th location in Michigan. Built at a cost of $23 million, Regency at Chene will employ more than 200 people in both full-time and part-time positions.

“With the opening of Regency at Chene, Ciena Healthcare continues to show our commitment to the city of Detroit by providing high-quality care to the citizens of Detroit, and to play an ongoing role in the city’s growth,” says Mohammad Qazi, president of Ciena Healthcare.

“The center’s dedicated staff will make residents feel at home in a comfortable setting and continue Ciena Healthcare’s tradition of shortening the gap between hospital care and returning home.”

Qazi added that another benefit of facilities like Regency at Chene is the reduction of hospital readmissions.

“It’s clear that skilled nursing centers like Regency at Chene are becoming an increasingly integral part of reducing hospital readmissions and must be considered a critical component of the recovery process,” says Qazi. “Regency at Chene will provide effective, quality care to residents requiring additional therapy and recovery time before returning home.”

Regency at Chene includes 46 private suites, 55 semi-private suites, and four bariatric suites. All suites are barrier-free and have private bathrooms. Amenities include three dining rooms, lounges for families and guests, activities, a café, a library, and a full-service salon and spa. In addition, the facility is backed up by emergency power.

A range of comprehensive therapy and nursing care are among the services offered at Regency at Chene, under the direction of a board-certified physician. Skilled services include 24-hour nursing care, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and a state-of-the-art rehabilitation gym.

“A new facility dedicated to providing long-term health care for Detroiters who need it is an important addition to our city and resource for our residents facing serious health challenges,” says Mayor Mike Duggan. “I deeply appreciate Ciena’s investment in the people of Detroit in terms of the care this beautiful new facility will provide, as well as the jobs it will create.”

Ciena Healthcare manages nearly 4,000 licensed beds and 40 nursing communities. Founded in 1998 by Qazi, Ciena Healthcare communities work to offer a holistic approach to patient care, committed to residents’ needs and well-being while also promoting their independence.
