Priority Health: Invested in Oakland County

Priority Health, an award-winning Michigan-based health plan, is no stranger to the metro Detroit market and it continues to expand its reach in this region. In early May, the plan moved its offices and 150 employees into The American Center in Southfield, a choice that keeps Priority Health in business-friendly Oakland County with an easy-to-access location.

“Oakland County thanks Priority Health for choosing Southfield as their home,” County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said. “Priority Health’s decision to locate its officers there bolsters the strength of our Medical Main Street brand.”

The move is part of Priority Health’s plan to invest $2 million in Oakland County and add 30 to 50 jobs in the next two years. In addition to offices for employees, the American Center is home to the Priority Health information center where members and the general public can interact face-to-face with insurance and Medicare experts. The information center, located at 27777 Franklin Road, Suite 115, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.

“Priority Health is committed to southeast Michigan and we are excited that this move will support further growth in this region,” said Don Whitford, vice president of the eastern region for Priority Health. “We went through an exhaustive search process to find a new location and decided to stay right here in Oakland County because of all the opportunities it provides.”

Priority Health is nationally recognized for improving the health and lives of its members. It continues to lead the industry in engaging members in their health, delivering effective health and disease management programs, and working with physicians to improve health care outcomes and performance. It has been named the benchmark plan by the state of Michigan for all individual and group plans to model.

Leading the way in transparency, Priority Health was the first health plan in Michigan to offer a cost comparison tool in partnership with the Healthcare Blue Book, which provides fair market pricing on more than 200 common procedures to help its members make more informed decisions about their health care.
