‘Boy and Bear’ campaign under way to place statue

The city of Southfield saved Northland Center’s “Boy and Bear” sculpture from auction last year. Now a fund-raiser is under way to pay for and place the artwork.

With help from a matching grant, $300,000 is needed to reach a $600,000 goal by May 19, Mayor Ken Siver said. The piece created in 1954 is to be placed at the Southfield Public Library rotunda.
