When Nik Banda was offered a job with the city of Rochester, he practically hung up the phone.

“I
told them I wasn’t interested,” said Banda, who has worked in the city
of Southfield for 28 years, and currently serves as its director of
planning and economic development. “Southfield is my whole life.”

But new Rochester City Manager Jaymes Vettraino was persistent.

“He
made me an offer I couldn’t refuse,” Banda said, adding that his last
day in Southfield is Aug. 31 – the day before he starts his new gig in
Rochester as its deputy city manager/director of community and economic
development.
