Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital is investing in the Rochester community with the announcement of two new additions — a new state-of-the-art catheterization lab and improved Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) Clinic. This announcement comes after the recent opening of the Stroke and Neuroendovascular Center, which provides innovative, minimally invasive procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions in the brain.
In addition to performing procedures like heart catheterization diagnostics, stent insertion, and treatment of heart blockages, the $2.4 million cath lab features improved imaging, enhanced detection capabilities for cardiac and vascular imaging , decreased x-ray dosing, and higher capability to perform procedures not only in the heart, but in all of the peripheral-vasculature of the body. The newly expanded CHF Clinic is designed to help heart failure patients implement healthy lifestyle changes as a result of education and planning with a multidisciplinary team.
“Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital continues to contribute to the health of our community by providing world-class cardiac care performed by highly trained cardiologists and staff,” said Christopher Palazzolo, president of Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital. “The cath lab along with the opening of the CHF Clinic and Stroke and Neuroendovascular Center proves our commitment to meet the healthcare needs of Rochester and the surrounding communities for years to come.”
“A progressive interventional cath lab benefits the community because it provides easy access to neighboring cities to have various procedures performed,” said Nishit Choksi, director of cardiovascular services at Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital . “The longer it takes to fix a heart, the higher the incidence of damage, even irreparable damage. Not only are these resources convenient, they’re lifesaving.”
