St. Joseph Mercy Oakland to host free community seminar on shoulder pain

St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (SJMO) will host a free community seminar entitled, “Painful Shoulders: You Do Have Options” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 25, 2012, in the hospital’s Franco Communications Center, 44405 Woodward Ave., Pontiac. Orthopedic surgeon Matt Bahu, MD, will be the speaker.
The seminar is part of the hospital’s free series of orthopedic community seminars. SJMO orthopedic specialists conduct the seminars, speaking on a wide range of orthopedic procedures and joint replacement.  
The final seminar in the series will take place Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, in the Franco Center.  Bruce Henderson, MD, will speak on “Preventing Your Own Back Pain”

Dr. Bahu earned his medical degree at Wayne State University and completed his General Surgery internship and Orthopedic Surgery residency at McLaren Regional Medical Center.  He completed a fellowship at Columbia University in New York.
Dr. Bahu is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons.  He has participated in research studies and has published numerous publications.  He also has participated in peer-reviewed proceedings and delivered many oral presentations. 
The orthopedic seminars are free and open to the public.  Light refreshments will be served.
