St. Joseph Mercy Oakland annual Women’s Night Out health education event Nov. 8

St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (SJMO) will host its annual Women’s Night Out women’s health education event 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at the Auburn Hills Marriott-Pontiac at Centerpoint, 3600 Centerpoint Parkway, Pontiac.
 
Theme for the evening is “For every woman. For every stage. For life.”  The event will include an overview of women’s health and wellness services offered at SJMO to help women on their journey to improve their health and well-being.  SJMO physicians will lead breakout sessions on a variety of topics related to women’s health. Attendees will have an opportunity to choose two breakout sessions.
 
The evening will include a fashion show supported in part by Great Lakes Crossing Outlets with media personality Lila Lazarus as commentator.  An award-winning journalist Lazarus has appeared on TV in Michigan, Maryland and Massachusetts as a news anchor and health reporter.
 
Her professional accomplishments include covering Nelson Mandela’s inauguration in South Africa, receiving multiple Emmy Awards, the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Award, two Clarion Awards and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons Award twice.  In 2007, then-Gov. Jennifer Granholm appointed her to the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness.  An avid motorcyclist, Lazarus was named Michigan’s Ambassador of Motorcycle Safety. She is active in community and charitable organizations and serves on multiple boards.
 
Highlights of Women’s Night Out include light dinner, cash bar and dessert; health screenings, the fashion show and gift drawings.
 
The public is welcome.  Cost of the evening is $25 per person.
