Oakland County ranks tops in Digital Advancement

For the seventh consecutive year, Oakland County has been recognized as
one of the most technologically advanced county governments is the
country by The Center for Digital Government and the National
Association of Counties.

Ranked fourth in the 2011 Digital Counties Survey among all U.S.
counties with populations of 500,000 or more, Oakland County was
distinguished as a leader in the use of innovative technology that saves
taxpayers money while emphasizing customer service in a complicated
economic environment.

Some of Oakland County’s recent technology achievements include
the utilization of cloud computing services that allow the county’s IT
applications to be used by local government and the launch of a public
financial transparency and accountability portal program, Oakland County
Dashboard. The county has also focused on green technology solutions to
help achieve $4 million in energy efficiency savings and cost
avoidance.
