Local Artisans to Feature Handcrafted Gift Ideas, Décor at Holiday Market

The Oakland County Farmers Market is a unique place to visit anytime of the year, but during the Holiday Market from 3-7 p.m. Dec. 4, the spirit of the season really shines through.

Hum along to seasonal tunes while strolling through the vendor booths looking for that perfect gift for someone special, ask vendors for their recommendation about products and connect with artisans to learn the stories behind their handcrafted offerings.

In addition to shopping, there will also be plenty of family fun. From 4-7 p.m., bring the kids and snap a photo with live reindeer and elves. Enjoy a wagon ride, toast a marshmallow and be sure to enter a drawing to win a gift basket of market goodies, too.

“The Oakland County Farmers Market is a fun place to be during the Holiday Market,” Oakland County Farmers Market Manager Jeremy Brown said. “It is a very festive atmosphere with the aroma of fresh greenery and the glow of holiday lights.”

Booths will be fully stocked with an array of one-of-a-kind items like handcrafted jewelry, homemade soaps and lotions and specialty food items perfect for gift-giving occasions. Fresh wreaths, garlands and centerpieces make great choices for home decorating.

Many items are produced or handcrafted by local artisans, making the Holiday Market a great way to find unique items for everyone on your list while supporting local small businesses and independent vendors.

Open year-round, the Oakland County Farmers Market runs from 7 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays through the end of December. Winter hours begin in January, when the market will be open 7 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Saturdays. The market is located at 2350 Pontiac Lake Road in Waterford.
