Excerpt: Sure, there are big names and big shows on tap this summer at Little Caesars Arena, DTE Energy Music Theatre, the Fillmore Detroit and elsewhere, but metro Detroit parks and festivals will be alive with the sound of music as well.
From downtown Detroit to Ann Arbor to the northern reaches of Macomb and Oakland counties, admission-free concerts and music events will be abundant every weekend and on most weekdays between now and Labor Day. They’ll feature big-name vintage acts like Loverboy and the Little River Band as well as tried-and-true local talent like Thornetta Davis, Jill Jack and Alexander Zonjic.
Here’s a guide to all the fun. Enjoy the sights and sounds as the season flies by, and remember: Like warm days, gentle breezes and spectacular sunsets, all of these events are free.
