JUNE 1

  • Join Michigan State University Extension Health & Nutrition professionals for a Build a Better Salad program from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at the Oakland County Farmers Market, 2350 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford.   • A Pet Clinic, sponsored by Genisys Credit Union, will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at Orion Oaks Dog Park, 1200 Joslyn Road in Clarkston. No appointment is needed; everyone is welcome. A number of dog and cat vaccines will be available along with heartworm tests, flea protection, microchips and dog licenses. All are available for a nominal fee; cash is preferred, but MasterCard, Visa and Discover are accepted as well. The vaccination clinic is held in collaboration with All About Animals and the Dog License event is presented by Animal Control and Pet Adoption Center.   • Submit your entries for the annual Pics of the Parks photo contest. Submitted photos must fall into the P.A.R.K.’D. themed categories: Parks; Artistic; Recreation; Kids; and Dogs. A Best of Show will be awarded, along with first, second and third place winners from each P.A.R.K.’D. category. The Best of Show photo will appear on the cover of the 2020 Oakland County Parks Annual Report.

JUNE 2

  • Spring Flower Day is set from 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at the Oakland County Farmers Market, 2350 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford. The market will feature colorful displays of annuals, perennials, native plants and vegetable starters. Shoppers will find garden art and other garden-related items for sale, too. There will be plenty of fun for the whole family as children can burn off some energy jumping on an inflatable bouncer.   • Morning Munchkins is set for 10:30-11:15 a.m. June 7 at Red Oaks Nature Center, 30300 Hales St., Madison Heights. Join this exciting series just for preschoolers. Bring your munchkin to the nature center for a favorite story and a related hands-on, nature-based discovery activity. This series will be offered the first Friday of each month. Cost is $1/person. Today less than .02 percent of oak savanna habitat remains in the Midwest. Find a fen and a savanna and hear the stories of these hard-to-find native Michigan habitats and the wild things that call them home. We’ll bring some trail mix for snacking.
