Cooking demonstrations at the Oakland County Farmers Market return for a seventh season this January-April, but this time they are going virtual. Join a lineup of local chefs online for delicious recipes and culinary tricks and tips during the Cooking with EdibleWOW demonstration series beginning Saturday, Jan. 23.
Cooking demonstration videos will be posted on the Oakland County Farmers Market’s Facebook page by 10 a.m. each Saturday. The first video will feature Chef Michael Metevia from Slows Bar B Q. Other virtual demonstrations are scheduled to be posted as follows:
- Feb. 13, Chef Sam Bullock, Dorsey Schools Culinary Academy
- Feb. 27, Chef Jared Bobkin, Feast
- March 13, Chef Laura Romito, High 5 Salts
- March 27, Chefs John Piazza and Jeremy Abbey, Soil2Service
- April 10, Chef Joe Gilligan, Dough Joe’s Artisan Chocolates
Chefs will prepare recipes highlighting fresh produce and other items readily available during the winter months, such as root vegetables, mushrooms, honey, garlic, onions and apples. Viewers of the virtual demonstrations can pick up interesting tricks of the trade as the food is prepared and then shop for ingredients from 7 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturdays at the Oakland County Farmers Market. Copies of the recipes will be available at the market following the online demonstrations.
Local produce and other items for the recipe demonstrations are donated by Oakland County Farmers Market farmers and artisans.
