Novi finishes tree inventory in hopes of developing a urban forest management program.
Officials have completed an inventory of thousands of trees in an effort to make routine maintenance easier and to identify potential hazards, according to a news release issued this week.
This year’s data have been collected and entered into the city’s tree management software. According to officials, Novi received a $20,000 Michigan Department of Natural Resources grant in 2006 to inventory and evaluate the city’s subdivision street tree population. The goal was to develop a comprehensive urban forest management program. The survey inventoried more than 19,000 trees.
