Testek eyes expansion in Lyon Township

Since Testek, Inc. moved into their new 90,000 square foot facility in Lyon Township in 2008, their employee count has jumped from 65 to 85. With the market booming, the company sees the potential for 10 more jobs and a 20,000 square foot expansion in the near future.

Testek designs and builds custom testing equipment for aerospace and automotive markets and currently does about $25 million in sales but expects that number to double and triple over the next few years. “The aerospace market is quite hot right now with new aircraft being developed and the military spending,” said Shilpa Patel, Vice President of Operations. “There are a lot of opportunities in aerospace that we are trying to take advantage of.” In addition to domestic sales, the company exports to China, Japan and Mexico.

Oakland County Planning & Economic Development Services assisted Testek with securing a PA198 tax abatement for the Lyon Township location and a MEGA board approved state tax credit valued at $452,000 over 10 years to win the project over competing sites in other states. The County continues to meet annually with the company and provides a variety of assistance as needed.

Testek is located at 28320 Lakeview Drive in the Quadrants Industrial Research Center, a Michigan Certified Business Park. Shilpa Patel said the location they are in is “beautiful” and they have no plans of moving again. She continued, “Testek is truly proud to be located in Lyon Township and Oakland County.”

“It’s a nice area and we have had no problems finding suppliers in this area,” Vice President of Engineering Mona Patel said.
