Oakland County schedules home ownership retention seminar in Orion Township

A My Home – My Future Home Ownership Retention Seminar is scheduled for March 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Orion Township Hall, 2525 Joslyn Road in Lake Orion. This meeting is free and open to all Oakland County homeowners.
Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson has initiated free foreclosure intervention and prevention seminars to help families protect their most valuable asset, their home. The impact of rising foreclosures on Oakland County families and communities is of great concern to county and community leaders. Besides losing earned equity, damaging credit and other monetary losses, losing a home to foreclosure and displacing a family causes emotional, physical and psychological distress.
Topics covered by a HUD/MSHDA certified housing counselor include loan modification programs, alternatives to foreclosure, Michigan’s foreclosure law, Michigan’s Hardest Hit Program and how to find assistance when you need it.

This event is sponsored by the county executive, the Oakland County Community Home Improvement Division, and the Oakland County Board of Commisioners: Chairman Michael J. Gingell, Vice Chairman Jeff Matis, and Commisioners Beth Nuccio, Robert Gosselin, Tim Greimel, Mattie McKinney Hatchett, John A. Scott, Jim Runestad and Thomas F. Middleton, representing the communities of Auburn Hills, Clarkston, Lake Angelus, Lake Orion.  Leonard, Ortonville, Oxford, Pontiac, Rochester, Rochester Hills and Sylvan Lake and the townships of Brandon, Oxford, Addison, Independence, Orion, Oakland and Waterford.
