Group Associates plans to add up to 10 positions in next six months

If people and the companies they run dream of simpler times these days, then a firm like Group Associates is using that desire to bolster its current growth spurt.

The Bingham Farms-based company specializes in handling benefit enrollment services for businesses. For instance, if a company hires or fires an employee, Group Associates handles the administrative end of making sure the person has health insurance or COBRA.

“As things become more complicated and companies need to do more with less, they are presented with the question of how do I handle this administratively and not bring on another employee to handle it,” says David Zick, president and owner of Group Associates.

Group Associates has grown its revenue 8 percent in 2010. It has hired 15 employees over the last two years, rounding out its staff to 90 people. It has four open positions right now and plans to hire another 4-10 people in the next six months on expected revenue growth of 10 percent.

“We’ve been successful in bringing in new business to the company,” Zick says.
