Preservation Bloomfield is moving forward and saving history thanks to volunteers and donations.
Just over a year ago, Preservation Bloomfield moved the historical Barton Farmhouse from its foundation on Long Lake Road to the Bloomfield Hills School Farm. That was an exceptional accomplishment in itself, but it was just a beginning.
Now work is being done on the site to convert the building into a usable facility where classes and programs for the community can be held. It’s a major project that is requiring a lot of effort.
What’s especially notable is that this is being done through donations and volunteer efforts. Preservation Bloomfield itself is a volunteer organization made up of area residents who have been donating time, money and effort to saving a valuable piece of the area’s past.
