A lot of good things have been happening in Oakland County. Here is a roundup of some of the highlights that occasionally get overlooked:
- At yesterday’s County Trail Summit Larry (Need more info) received the Pioneer Award. The award is given to recognize an individual demonstrating longstanding, significant, and exemplary service to trails planning, implementation, and recreation. Larry is, appropriately, the first recipient of the award. The actual award is a handmade hiking stick with a medallion attached with the “Oak Routes” logo. (Attached is a picture from the trail summit. — The picture wasn’t attached.)
- Oakland County housing counseling unit has been working hard this past program year. Between counselors Kathy Williams, Lon Shook, Margaret Harris, and Joanne Hill-Brookshire, they provided One-on One Housing Counseling to 737 households (320 foreclosure, 148 for Home Equity Conversion Mortgages, and 80 for pre-purchase) and group counseling to another 67 for foreclosure and 163 for pre-purchase. Additionally, the program has counseled over 2,600 families via telephone. This reflects tremendous effort from our Housing Counseling and Homeless Services Unit under Kathy Williams’ supervision. With all of the federal reporting required, this is an amazing accomplishment.
Congratulations to all.
