OCC is sending their top chefs to a regional competition in Indianapolis.
A five-member team of hot chefs from Oakland Community College’s Culinary Studies Institute are to represent Michigan at the American Culinary Federation’s regional competition to be held March 26 in Indianapolis, OCC officials said this week.
The OCC team was the gold-medal winner Feb. 21 in a local competition with teams from Schoolcraft College in Detroit and the Novi Art Institute, taking its sixth gold medal since 1998, OCC spokesman George Cartsonis said.
Winning dishes included the compulsory fish appetizer, filet of sole with white wine, along with OCC’s pear and goat-cheese salad, smoked chicken breast and orange chocolate date tower. On the winning team were Kaitlin LaMont, 21, of Rochester Hills; Victor Llagas, 35, of Farmington Hills; Valerie Naimi, 22, of West Bloomfield; Bradley Roberts, 21, of Oxford; and Mino Yamaguchi, 34, of Novi.
