Oakland County expands it’s already wonderful collection of parks.
While some parks departments plan cutbacks or fee hikes, Oakland County Parks spent $1 million in August for 5 acres of land that officials said they had eyed for years.
Even though the county has $2.1 million in park projects on hold, Oakland bought the site known as Ernst Greenhouse because it is “the last significant piece of property” adjoining Waterford Oaks, the most centrally located of the county’s 13 parks, planning supervisor Jon Noyes said.
“We’ve had this on our radar for a very long time,” Noyes said. Also, the site offered nearly an acre of greenhouse space and a barn, Noyes said.
