These kids are using Legos a little differently than most kids. They are using them to learn and solve problems.
For a group of six students in the South Lyon area, Legos aren’t just toys.
As competitors in the FIRST Lego League, their goal is to build a robot from a Lego NXT kit and program it to complete missions in less than two minutes and 30 seconds.
The team put their robot on display last weekend at the regional competition, and took home first place to advance to the state level.
“We were depressed and struggling 10 days before the competition, but it all came together,” said Christopher Hughes, 14.
