Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson sees himself seeking a
sixth term in three years and collaborating with Mark Hackel as his
counterpart across Dequindre Road on regional issues.

Patterson,
70, said Tuesday he sees the current Macomb County sheriff as “hands
down the guy” most likely to take the newly-created Macomb County
executive position in the November 2010 election. Hackel, 48, a
Democrat and third-term sheriff, was the county’s top vote-getter in
his 2008 re-election bid but has yet to file as a candidate for
executive.

“Hackel is hands down the guy for executive out in
Macomb, the way it all stands right now, and I look forward to working
with him and getting a chance to discuss regional issues in a couple of
years,” he said.
