Five Oakland County communities expect to receive $1 million in grants for returning unused money.


Five Oakland County communities expect windfalls that add up to more than $1 million because three other Oakland communities returned federal grants they couldn’t use, officials said.

A total of $1,067,110 in grants, awarded this year to address the foreclosure crisis, was returned recently by Holly Township, White Lake Township and Lake Orion village after “they didn’t feel they had the staff to deal with the complexities of the program,” Oakland County Community Improvement Division Manager Karry Rieth said.
