Get ride of the meating for one day at the VegFest.
More than 1,000 people are expected to turn out this month for VegFest to sample vegetarian dishes and learn about the benefits of a plant-based diet.
“We’re not about admonishing people who eat meat,” said Cyndi Summers, a spokeswoman for VegMichigan, a nonprofit group. “This is more of a celebration of the positive aspects of eating a vegetarian diet.”
Formerly called the Great American Meatout, the event is scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 26 at Ferndale High School, 881 Pinecrest.
Attendees can sample vegetarian dishes from area restaurants, listen to presentations on the benefits of a plant-based diet, and pick up information on healthy eating, animal rights and environmentalism.
