What started as a women’s health conference 23 years ago is now a full-fledged event addressing a range of aspects of women’s lives, from finances to physical and mental health, nutrition and career.
“Call to Wholeness” is 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 21, Tirrell Hall (J-Building) of OCC’s Orchard Ridge Campus, 27055 Orchard Lake Road, Farmington Hills.
Registration is $40 and includes the keynote presentation, two workshops, continental breakfast, lunch and a concluding session. Preregistration ends March 12 and is strongly advised.
“Women to a great degree look for experiential things, not just lectures, but workshops about self-esteem, self-advocacy and assertiveness,” said Womencenter Director Arlene Frank. “I make sure there’s a track for practical and physical health–things that help with making a life.”
The workshop attracts women in all age groups, from their 20s to their 60s, and many return over the years, Frank said. Vendors will display information and sell goods. Five-minute chair massages will be available for a small fee.
Keynote presenter Bari Berkowitz, MA, LLP, LLMFT, a licensed psychotherapist and marriage counselor, will speak about “Creating Resiliency and Wellness.” The presentation will focus on navigating crossroads and making important decisions. It also teaches how to release toxic relationships, self-defeating attitudes, destructive behaviors, or negative coping mechanisms and challenges dig deep to find the courage to shed what no longer serves them in their lives. The presentation includes a 15-minute meditation.
Workshops topics include: financial empowerment, making personal and positive life changes, stress management, nutrition, memoir and creative writing, career networking, assertiveness and how your body affects your health and energy throughout the day.
