Friedman Leases GenCorp to North American Lighting for their new R&D HQ

Friedman Integrated Real Estate Solutions, one of the nation’s leading providers of commercial real estate services, recently leased a  75,286 square foot office building located at 36600 Corporate Drive in Farmington Hills to North American Lighting, Inc. Todd Hawley, Senior Vice President, Brokerage Services, represented the landlord in the transaction.

The 11-year-old building had previously housed Henniges Automotive prior to their move to Auburn Hills. The building had been vacant since 2012 and will now be 100% occupied. NAL is the largest non-affiliated lighting supplier in North America. NAL has been manufacturing lighting products for the majority of vehicle manufacturers in North America since 1983. According to the Michigan Economic Development Corp., the move is expected to generate up to $6.8 million of capital investment and create 76 jobs. The close proximity to automotive design centers will allow NAL to quickly respond to customer needs.
Friedman’s Construction & Design team will transform the space into a lighting test lab and research and development office. Jim Parrinello, Friedman’s Vice President of Construction, will oversee the project. “This is an exciting opportunity for our team. We are able to provide an innovative design for the state-of-the-art lab,” said Parrinello. Construction is scheduled to be completed by June of 2014. Once construction is complete, the building will serve as the Engineering Research and Development Headquarters for NAL.
