Film incentives go to Farmington Hills firm

Farmington Hills’ Digital Image Studio will receive a film incentive from the state of Michigan to finish post-production work on an animated documentary that features the stories of actors across the country, including the Mitten State.

Actor? was awarded a $62,520 incentive on $156,000 of proposed expenditures related to the film, which will be completed by existing employees of Digital Image Studio. The doc interviews thespians across the nation on how they hone their craft and why they pursue such challenging work.

Critics of Michigan’s film incentives have said an overwhelming majority of the money spent on incentives went to film companies, directors and actors who spent only brief periods in Michigan while the critical post-production work was done somewhere else.
