Take a Shot at Archery in the New Oakland County Parks and Recreation Range

Oakland County Parks and Recreation is offering an open house at the Independence Oaks Archery Range from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 15.

The event will include demonstrations and basic skill instructions. All equipment is provided — no personal equipment allowed. Closed-toe shoes recommended. The event is free with park entry fee or annual vehicle permit.

In addition to the archery open house, a fishing derby will be held at Independence Oaks-North from 9 a.m.-noon. No license is needed for children. Hosted by the Wint Nature Center, there will also be a kids’ craft, mini-ponds, bait casting and fly-tying activities. Participants are urged to bring a light-colored T-shirt for fish printing. The cost is $7 per person. Pre-registration with payment required.
