Birmingham’s Groves school grad wins distinguished alumni award

A Birmingham Grove’s High School senior from ’99 made it to Hollywood
as a screenwriter and has won Groves’ Distinguished Alumni award.

Sztykiel was honored recently as the 23rd recipient of the
Distinguished Alumni Award by the 2009 class of Groves High School. He
and his wife, Ellie Knaus, flew in from Los Angeles so he could accept
the award and deliver the keynote address for the annual Groves Senior
Seminar. “He’s
really nice, he has a great family, a great wife — that’s the life I
want to achieve for myself,” Groves senior Sarah Silver said. “He
actually had the best high school experience … he was homecoming
king. And now he’s living the dream. He just makes you think you can
reach your dreams.”
