Oakland County has a world-class selection of professional theatres, art museums, cultural destinations and historical sites. It is home to Cranbrook Educational Community (which includes the Cranbrook Art Museum, Cranbrook Institute of Science, Art Academy and Cranbrook House & Gardens), Detroit Zoo, Walter P. Chrysler Automotive Museum, and Meadow Brook Hall.  

No matter the season, Oakland County has plenty of fun and entertaining events – Fire & Ice Fest, Uptown Film Festival, Woodward Dream Cruise and Arts, Beats & Eats.

April Wagner runs two businesses out of epiphany studios in Pontiac. There's epiphany, which is her line of gift pieces and functional pieces, like bowls and decanters. And then there's the April Wagner Line, which are larger, more ornamental pieces of glass art that often end up in the lobbies of hotels and hospitals, or the dining rooms and stairwells of people's homes.

International Velodrome at Bloomer Park

Rochester Hills resident Dale Hughes is bringing a world-class velodrome to Detroit

A $4 million multi-sport complex is coming to the City of Detroit. The Detroit Fitness Foundation is funding the project, and Executive Director Dale Hughes will design a world-class cycling velodrome as part of the plan. The foundation also hopes to one day launch a professional track riding team in Detroit.

The Art of Caregiving offers respite through visual arts for those who take care of others

It is the caregivers who often get overlooked when discussing issues around treatment and care for Alzheimer's and dementia patients. On November 17, the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center launches their new program, The Art of Caregiving, a free visual arts respite program for those tending to elderly patients with Alzheimer's and dementia.

At the third annual Oakland Edge adult hockey tournament held at Rochester's Onyx Ice Arena, visitors witnessed a sled hockey showdown between London, Canada's Blizzard hockey club and Metro Detroit's very own Michigan Sled Dogs.
