has joined Great Little Spots
, the first ski store to participate in the spend local incentive program that launched in Birmingham last October.
Great Little Spots is the brainchild of Bloomfield Township's Johanna Berger and Birmingham's Kate Richard, two businesswomen whose mission is to revitalize local business and downtown districts in Michigan. Great Little Spots offers consumers an economic incentive to patronize locally owned establishments by selling pre-paid, reloadable cards that provide 20 percent more value for their money.
Skier's Peak is the thirty-sixth Spot in the program
. It joins many establishments in Bloomfield and Birmingham like Scandia Home, Stacked Deli and Carol Lewis Day Spa, as well as other businesses in Royal Oak. Customers can start using their Great Little Spots cards at Skier's Peak immediately.
"We are excited to be a part of the Great Little Spots team of local businesses," said Bob Thomas, owner of Skier's Peak. "As a retailer in the community for more than 30 years, I know just how important it is to buy locally. Some of the very best specialty shops are those right in your neighborhood. At Skier's Peak, we carry the best winter ski gear at competitive prices along with a great selection of summer active wear and yoga gear, and we are looking forward to partnering with this program to offer our customers even more value."
Great Little Spots cards are available online
and at Oliver's Trendz in Birmingham and Stella Boutique in Royal Oak. The cards work like cash at participating businesses and offer consumers 20% more value at the point of sale. For example, if a customer spends $100 on a card, she would be able to pay for a new ski jacket that costs $120.
"Skier's Peak is a great addition to our roster of Spots," said Berger. "Great Little Spots cardholders can now use their cards at such a wide variety of merchants -- from dry cleaners to restaurants to gift shops to this great ski store -- that those who don't have a card are really missing out."
Berger and Richard stress the importance of spending locally.
"For every dollar spent at a locally-owned business like Skier's Peak, 68 cents stays in our community and contributes to the economic and social well-being of our community. We are giving people an easy, cost-effective way to keep their dollars here," said Richard. "When we spend local, we're not just getting great products and services; we're also helping our schools, charities and neighborhoods thrive."
Skiers Peak is a specialty ski shop offering the best snow skis, winter and ski apparel, ski boots, and ski accessories. It is owned and operated by ski enthusiasts with more than 50 years of experience in the ski industry. It is located at 6565 Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Township.
Great Little Spots is a community-focused, emerging-technology business based in Metro-Detroit. Its mission is to nurture loyalty and relationships between local merchants and their communities by providing an ongoing incentive that encourages consumers to spend local.
