Chevy gives much needed sponsorship boost to Dream Cruise

The Woodward Dream Cruise will roll on this summer, thanks to a presenting sponsorship pledge from Chevrolet, worth $1 million over a three-year period.

The 2011 Dream Cruise will be held Aug. 20. It's the world's largest one-day automotive event and draws about 1.5 million spectators and 50,000 cars to the famed avenue.

The partnership comes on Chevrolet's 100th anniversary. The brand will showcase its past, present and future during the event with historic Chevrolets driven by fans, employees and retirees; a showcase of current models; and a chance to see future Chevys.

"Chevrolet and the Woodward Dream Cruise are a natural partnership," Rick Scheidt, vice president of Chevrolet marketing, said in a statement. "Chevrolet, as a global brand, is celebrating its centennial with locally focused events that recognize the passion people have for their Chevrolets.
