Crisp, cool air and trees in bursts of red, orange and gold are the backdrop for outdoor fun this fall with Oakland County Parks and Recreation.
Autumn trails beckon at Oakland County Parks
Hike, bike and horseback ride on 65 miles of trails at nine Oakland County Parks. Visit the Oakland County Parks for a leisurely stroll or jog on natural trails. Ride bikes, roller blade or push strollers on paved trails while enjoying the fall colors.
Mountain bike short or longer distances for great outdoor exercise. Equestrian trails are available at Addison, Highland and Rose Oaks county parks.
The new connector trail opens at Addison Oaks County Park—the gateway to Addison Oaks Main and East Bald Mountain State Recreation Area, Cranberry Lake Park and Upland Hills Farm.
Swing into fall
Get in your final tee times at one of Oakland County Parks and Recreation’s five golf courses. Adaptive equipment is available for individuals with disabilities.

Boo-tiful Halloween Camping and Fun
Trick-or-treat at Addison Oaks campground. Reserve campsites, cabins and group sites for a late-season family camping trip. Pack your costume and celebrate Halloween at the parks! Call 248.693.2432 for specific schedule or to reserve a campsite or a comfy cabin.
Boo Bash at Addison Oaks
Oct. 12–14 and Oct. 19–21
Weekend activities include: pumpkin crafts, a campsite decorating contest, face painting, Haunted House of Horrors, trick-or-treating, inflatables, hayrides and a costume DJ dance.
Mother Nature is changing her colors!
Experience the natural world as plants and animals prepare for winter. Nature interpretive opportunities are offered at Wint Nature Center in Clarkston (Independence Oaks County Park), Red Oaks Nature Center in Madison Heights (formerly Madison Heights Nature Center, across from Red Oaks Waterpark) and throughout the parks system.
Dog Parks for your best friend
Bring you canine pal for off-leash fun at Lyon Oaks, Orion Oaks and Red Oaks dog parks. Dog park areas can be rented for private canine parties or dog group events and gatherings.

The event includes activities and games for dogs and their owners: informative pet clinics and demonstrations, dog agility contests, pet adoptions, vendors, Best Doggie Costume contests (including most original, scariest, funniest, and best dog/owner combo), and a special keepsake photo.
Oakland County Market
Shop for vibrant, colorful and fresh produce right from the grower! Fall produce includes apples, pears, celery, potatoes, squash, turnips and more (subject to availability). Through December, the Oakland County Market is open 6:30 a.m.–2 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The Flea Market is open Sundays year-round 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
Grow your own veggies this winter
Continue the growing season throughout the fall and winter! Avid and novice gardeners are invited to lease 60-square-foot indoor garden plots during the fall/winter season at Waterford Oaks Greenhouse. A limited number of accessible plots are also available for individuals with disabilities.
A plot lease runs through April 15, 2013. Cost is $150/plot and includes a controlled greenhouse environment with heat and light, access to a dumpster, portable restrooms, basic tools and water. Applications may be downloaded at DestinationOakland.com
